Puzzle / Hex Blitz

You have two minutes to earn as many points as possible! In this fast-paced, Tetris-style skill game, you need a good eye to complete the puzzles as quickly as you can. Drag the hexagonal pieces to move them and try to fit them into the field. Not all shapes might fit - use hints if you're stuck and collect helpful gifts at the end of the game to boost your next attempt at reaching the highest score!

One of the common reasons I hear that people say they install Ad Blocking software is to prevent tracking and secure their privacy but how true is that?

Allot of sites have external resource calls and most of the external resource calls come with some sort tracking. Let's take for instance if the website uses reCaptcha, well reCaptcha follows the same privacy policy as most other Google services. They are allowed to track users on sites that use reCaptcha along with other Google services.

Quote from Google
We use the information we collect from all of our services to provide, maintain, protect and improve them, to develop new ones, and to protect Google and our users. We also use this information to offer you tailored content – like giving you more relevant search results and ads.

Among Google services reCaptcha is just the tip of the iceberg. Some of the services use JavaScript as the means of delivery while some can be made server side like Analytics. Among these and this is a small list, AdSense, reCaptcha, hosted libraries such as jQuery and hosted fonts. Reminder this isn't even close to a complete list of website services offered by Google.

The same applies to allot of other services webmasters tend to use, not only Google but Amazon and Facebook have the same policies in tact. Every website that has a Facebook like button or a Facebook comment system, Facebook knows you visited it. Any website that links a Amazon hosted resource, well Amazon knows what you looked at.

Information from websites and apps that use our Services.
We collect information when you visit or use third-party websites and apps that use our Services (like when they offer our Like button or Facebook Log In or use our measurement and advertising services). This includes information about the websites and apps you visit, your use of our Services on those websites and apps, as well as information the developer or publisher of the app or website provides to you or us.

Information from Other Sources
Examples of information we receive from other sources include updated delivery and address information from our carriers or other third parties, which we use to correct our records and deliver your next purchase or communication more easily; account information, purchase or redemption information, and page-view information from some merchants with which we operate co-branded businesses or for which we provide technical, fulfillment, advertising, or other services; search term and search result information from some searches conducted through the Web search features offered by our subsidiary, Alexa Internet

One keyword here is a service and what qualifies as a service. Well in most of these cases a service can range from a simple image on the page you're viewing to a JavaScript application. Among these are images, scripts, fonts, stylesheets, documents and possible others.

Chances are if you block all the JavaScript and external resource calls the site will fail to work correctly. Not to mention some resource calls say for instance Google Analytics can be made server side leaving out that JavaScript equation and any notice that the users information has just been shared.

It looks like the only way to have at least some secrecy and privacy, is don't browse the internet and maybe unplug your modem.

Last few days we have been getting hit hard with some bad bots not following robots.txt. Since some of the IP addresses ranges varied quite a bit we couldn't do a block by IP. So instead we created a new option in the administration panel to block abusive bots by using the "Search Engine Tracking" feature.

First run this SQL in your database to add another row so we can store if the bot is blocked or not. Change "smf_" if your database prefix is different.

Code: [Select]
ALTER TABLE  `smf_spiders` ADD  `block` TINYINT( 3 ) NOT NULL DEFAULT  '0';
Next is the administration panel stuff in order to be able to edit the value.

Code: [Select]
'spider_name' => 'string', 'user_agent' => 'string', 'ip_info' => 'string',Add After
Code: [Select]
'block' => 'int',
Code: [Select]
ip_info = {string:ip_info}Add After
Code: [Select]
, block = {int:block}
Code: [Select]
'ip_info' => $ips,Add After
Code: [Select]
'block' => isset($_POST['block']) ? 1 : 0,
Code: [Select]
'spider_name' => 'string', 'user_agent' => 'string', 'ip_info' => 'string',Add After
Code: [Select]
'block' => 'int',
Code: [Select]
$_POST['spider_name'], $_POST['spider_agent'], $ipsAdd After
Code: [Select]
, isset($_POST['block']) ? 1 : 0
Code: [Select]
<textarea name="spider_ip" rows="4" cols="20">', $context['spider']['ip_info'], '</textarea>
Add After
Code: [Select]
<strong>Block:</strong><br />
<span class="smalltext">Full ban on this spider.</span>
<input type="checkbox" name="block" value="1"', $context['spider']['block'] ? ' checked="checked"' : '', ' class="input_check" />

Now the actual block, this portion uses the banning system to perform the action. Since the check for banning happens later on we can set the needed variables and later on the ban system will take care of the rest.

Code: [Select]
if (isset($_SESSION['id_robot']))
Code: [Select]
if (isset($_SESSION['id_robot'])) {
if ($spider['block'])
$_SESSION['ban'] = array(
'last_checked' => time(),
'id_member' => 0,
'ip' => $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'],
'ip2' => $_SERVER['BAN_CHECK_IP'],
'email' => '',
'cannot_access' => array(
'ids' => array(0),

While this isn't a server level block it should save some CPU cycles as the PHP code isn't executed any further after the ban check.

I closed the blog down recently as I have been focusing most of my attention on other things. I'll still post things here and have no intention of closing this site down.

My first DE razor around 4 years back was the Merkur Long Handled Safety Razor MK 23C. This is a perfect beginner's razor as it isn't as aggressive as some others. It does take some time getting used to, so don't rush into it and research a little online until you feel comfortable using it.

One thing to remember is don't shave with it like a disposable razor. Just let the razor glide against the skin with no added pressure and with gental guidance.

Along with the razor I bought the Proraso Gift Set, which includes everything you need to start shaving. Included in the kit is a container of Proraso Shaving Soap Eucalyptus & Menthol, a shaving brush, a 10 pack of Feather Hi-Stainless DE Razor Blades and a travel size tube of Proraso Shaving Cream Eucalyptus & Menthol. Sadly though, Amazon no longer carries this kit but the Van Der Hagen shave set might be a good alternative, although I haven't tried it myself.

Since Amazon quit carrying the Proraso Gift Set, I recommend getting some extra blades. You can pick up a 50 count of Feather Double Edge Blades for under 20 US Dollars. This package last me around a whole year.

As for shave soap, if you prefer to save a little extra cash then I would recommend buying
Williams Mug Shaving Soap, this soap provides a great lather while being cheap. This is my current personal choice.

If you prefer spending a little more money then Col. Conk Shave Soap is another excellent budget choice. The Bay Rum and Almond varieties have a great smell while providing a great lather for your shave. I have used these before and they are well worth the sticker price.

After a while I was comfortable with choosing a razor with the potential of a even closer shave. I retired my old Merkur and bought my second razor which happens to be the Merkur Futur Adjustable Safety Razor. This razor is one of the cheaper adjustable razors in which you can adjust your closeness depending on how you want to shave that day. For a quick shave you can set it less aggressive and vica versa for a close shave.

These are the products after four years of DE shaving I would recommend. Merkur IMHO is the razor of choice, however my decision might be bias since I haven't tried any others. I however have looked at other DE razor at the major chain stores like Wal-Mart and in comparison, even though they are pricey, they don't measure up to Merkur in build quality and weight.

No relationship is safe. According to a new study, nearly half (46%) of couples around the world have cheated on their significant other, but it's not what you think.

This data was first uncovered in a study in the U.S. in 2013. Four years later, cheating has increased three times and has become a common behavior around the world. This behavior only continues to grow with 60% saying they'd cheat more if they knew they'd get away with it. And once you cheat, you can't stop: 81% of cheaters are repeat offenders and 44% have cheated 3+ times.

Cheating happens all over the world, though it varies a bit by country. The most cheaters are in Brazil and Mexico where 57%-58% of couples have cheated, respectively. The most loyal are in Netherlands (73% have not cheated), Germany (65%) and Poland (60%).

Most don't plan to cheat...it just happens: 80% of cheating is unplanned. The trigger for the growing trend in cheating? Two-thirds (66%) of cheaters said that "it's so good we can't stop."

Sleep with one eye open: 25% of cheating happens when one partner falls asleep. But whether this is even cheating is hotly debated. Half say sleep cheating doesn't count (53%), but the morality of sleep cheating varies across the globe. Chileans think it's no big deal, Japan sees it as unforgivable. Many are still cheating in secret: 45% never admit to their indiscretions.

If you stray, don't beat yourself up about it. Cheating has become more socially acceptable, with 46% saying it's "not bad at all." Unless of course you live in Hong Kong, where 40% think this is worse than having an actual affair.

Cheating comes in many forms. Netflix has created a series of assets to help explain the phenomenon. Cheating Profiles highlight the most common types of offenders lurking in households around the world. This infographic illustrates cheating motivations and behaviors, and reaction GIFs help couples work through their indiscretions so they can protect their relationship...or keep on cheating.

In a binge-watching world where it's easy to say "just one more", Netflix cheating has quickly become the new normal...
